So we all know the impression that men only worry about the size of their manhood, but apparently its by-products are what really counts.
In a new project looking at sexual medicine and confidence, research showed that men tend to exaggerate the volume of sperm ejaculated after sex.
Yes, this is a real study.
According to researchers, men equate the volume of fluid to their sexual satisfaction, with some participants believing the quantity could even make others speculate about their size against friends – believing the larger their junk, the more they spunk. (Sorry, we saw the opportunity for a rhyme).
The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, evaluated the impact semen quantity had on men, enrolling 70 guys into a study.
Participants were asked three questions –
- How much semen they believed they produced
- If the quantity had changed as they aged
- How satisfied they were with the perceived amount
The results were a little unusual too. Most men had overestimated the amount they believed they ejaculated during sex – with a fifth of men believing it played a role in how sexually satisfying they were as men.
Reflecting on the study, sex therapist Ian Kerner told Women’s Health:
“I see a lot of men who are concerned that they aren’t ejaculating enough.
“That worry appears to be driven by expectations based on what they see in porn, where a man will produce this propulsion of semen, which is often faked.”
Kerner also added that the quantity of ejaculation has no reflection on the sexual satisfaction or prowess of a man.
And if you are curious about what to expect from the average man’s big moment?
Well it measures anything from a third of a teaspoon up to a little more than a teaspoon.
