Former Ireland international Ray Treacy has passed away following a short illness, aged 68.
Many Twitter users have expressed their sadness at the news.
The 1978 FAI Cup Final, Ireland v USSR in 74, Rovers’ league win in 94. Three great reasons why #raytreacy is a hero of mine.

After retiring from the game, Ray went into management and had great success, leading Shamrock Rovers to a league title in 1994.
The Dubliner also established a travel agency which became the official partner of the FAI. He retired from the business in 2009.
