Ladies, if you’re struggling to lace up those runners for a jog, this could be just the news you want to hear.
A new study has proven that those who adopt lighter exercise more regularly are less likely to suffer injuries, tooth loss and even a failing sex drive.
The study, which looked at the habits of 5,000 people broken into rigorous and gentle exercise, was conducted over 12 years by Danish researchers.
Published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine, biochemsists leading the study found that light joggers and brisk walkers were the healthiest of all study participants.
As well as boasting the lowest death rate in the group, they were also 20 per cent less likely to suffer heart problems, stroke and blood clots.
The next healthiest participants in the group were those who did gentle exercise such as gardening or gentle walking two to three times a week.
Bad news for fitness fanatics, with women in the category seen to be at a higher risk of heart disease, stroke and even a failing sex drive from exhaustion and stress.
With the sun shining, we think that’s the perfect excuse to grab a friend for a stroll and a catch-up.
