Having surgery can already leave you slightly disorientated, but being stalked by your nurse probably won’t help the situation.
Darcy White went into Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, California for shoulder surgery – a routine operation that should have been pretty straight forward.
What Darcy probably wasn’t expecting was to wake up the next morning with a series of missed calls and text messages. Not from friends and family looking to see how she had got on, but from her anesthesiologist.
As well as a number of missed calls, the texts referred to White’s appearance, clothing size and started including affectionate pet names.
Confused by the situation, Darcy’s friend confronted the nurse who had rang her ten times and sent text messages, to which the nurse tried to explain as ‘doing his job’.
According to 23ABCNews, the nurse admitted over a phone interview that he’d taken White’s phone number from her file and said he “may have taken it too far” when he called her to follow up after her surgery.
As the nurse was hired through an agency, Mercy hospital have launched an investigation but have not suspended the nurse following his conduct.
