It’s award season and we’re eagerly anticipating the gowns that will walk down the red carpet at tonight’s Emmy Awards.
However, nominees who fail to win the coveted Emmy gong will not be leaving Hollywood empty handed as a whopper goodie bag worth an estimated €30,000 will be given to all of the A-list guests at tonight’s event.
The stars of Downton Abbey are expected to take home a record number of awards at this evening’s awards but will also leave with a gift bag that includes a Caribbean holiday for two, a stay at Hollywood’s trendy W hotel and designer gifts.
Downton Abbey has been nominated in an astonishing 16 categories.
However, the show‘s creator Julian Fellowes said that the period drama is facing incredibly tough opposition with powerful rivals Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men and Game of Thrones also up for awards.
The nominees for Best Lead Actor in a Drama
Hugh Bonneville, who plays Downton Abbey’s Lord Grantham, is up against Boardwalk Empire’s John Steve Buscemi, Mad Men’s John Hamm and Dexter’s Michael C. Hall.
Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, faces tough opposition in the form of Kathy Bates and Homeland’s Claire Danes.
Michelle said the cast of Downton are thrilled with the Emmy nod.

According to the Sunday World, she said: “We’re flying the flag and it’s such a thrill to be here. It’s all pretty exciting tonight, but I know I’ll have goosebumps at the big event itself. It’s going to be the biggest day of my life,” she said.
Other stars who hail from Downton are also up for awards tonight including Dame Maggie Smith, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle and Joanne Froggart.
