You have to hand it to Robbie Williams – he has a, eh, unique way of ensuring that his new single flies off the shelves. Apparently the brand new daddy has said that he’ll chuck in his musical career, quit touring and go back to hunting UFOs if his fans don’t buy his latest release.
Robbie, who became a dad for the first time this week, joked that he would get back into his strange hobby and pile on the pounds unless Candy, his catchy comeback single, is a huge hit.
“I don’t want to emotionally blackmail the while nation but if Candy’s not a hit, I am not touring. I’m gonna stay in and look for UFOs. And I’m gonna get all beardy and all fat again,” Robbie joked.
“If you want that to happen to Robbie Williams, then you let he,” he added.
Well, given the fact that we’re quite pleased to have Robbie back on our radar, we think we’ll be downloading a copy in the Her.ie office. We don’t want him to get all “beardy” and weird again!
Robbie admitted that while his ninth solo album isn’t in the same rank as the amazing Escapology, it still packs a considerable musical punch.

Is that a UFO you see there Robbie?
The Take That singer, whose wife Ayda Field gave birth to daughter Teddy on Tuesday, also admitted that his bad language got him into trouble with many of the mammies who went to see Take That’s Progress tour last year.
“I’m a potty mouth. I believe The Wright Stuff had a whole segment on me: ‘Is it right he’s wearing?’ Nobody will book me anywhere. I’m going to have to curb it. I now say ‘flipping’ all the time,” said Rob.
Given the fact that he has a daughter to worry about now, that’s probably for the best. What do you think of his new song Candy? Do you love it or hate it?
