Crashers, Crazies and Cakes: The Best of Tonight’s TV

Get over the mid-week slump with some quality telly that is sure to keep you entertained for the evening.

Wedding Crashers – RTÉ One (21:35 – 23:40)

This classic rom-com tells the story of two men who spend a number of weeks every year crashing weddings. When they decide to crash the nuptials of the year, they find romance unexpectedly. Starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.

Downton Abbey – TV3 (20:00 – 23:30)

It’s a bumper night of period drama as Downton returns to Irish screens. First, catch a behind the scenes show featuring interviews with the cast and crew before relaxing with the 90-minute season opener. The residents and staff of Downton prepare for Lady Mary’s wedding to Matthew.

Crazy Heart – Film 4 (21:00 – 23:10)

This Oscar Award winning film tells the story of Bad Blake, an alcoholic musician who lives life on the rod. However, when he encounters a pretty journalist she helps him find a new lease of life. Starring Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

 

Shameless – Channel 4 (22:00 – 23:05)

The new series of Shameless continues tonight as Marty befriends a Brazilian housemaid and decides to rescue her from her terrible career. Gloria is over the moon when Dom brings their birth mom Hazel back for a surprise visit and Billy tells Karen he has had enough of people taking advantage.

Rachael Allen’s Cake Diaries – RTÉ One (19:30-19:57)

Our favourite Irish chef makes some treats to feed her rambunctious boys before preparing a marbled chocolate crumble cake and cheesecake brownies. The chef also makes a golden syrup loaf and an almond cake.
