Aslan’s upcoming gigs have been postponed as singer Christy Dignam is said to have been brought to hospital.

According to reports, the 53-year-old was brought to hospital in Dublin on Thursday.

Christy’s daughter Kiera confirmed the news on her Facebook page.

“My dad Christy was brought to hospital after his health declined, he is undergoing tests and treatment at the moment,” she wrote.

“I hope everyone can appreciate he is sick so this week’s gigs/appearances will have to be postponed.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support.”

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the band’s guitarist Billy McGuinness added; “He is getting tests done at the moment to try and figure out what is wrong with him.

“We are waiting to hear what the results of his tests are from his family,” he continued. “He wasn’t feeling good on Thursday and went to hospital. He does have his up’s and down’s.”

Christy was diagnosed with two types of cancer – myeloma and amyloidosis – in March 2013.

“Christy is in remission but was told that the cancer would most likely come back within four years.

“The amount of support he has been receiving since going into hospital has been incredible. There are hundreds of messages on the band’s Facebook page,” he said.

“We will let everyone know how he’s doing once he contacts us to let us know.”

The Irish Sun have reported that Christy sustained a “suspected brain seizure” though this has not been confirmed.
