Iron out the tutus and dust off the dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is back with a star studded line-up, some controversy already, Nicky from Westlife (we thought he deserved a mention) and our favourite man, “Can you believe it?”, Bruce. Settle down for an evening of sparkle and excitement as Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly kick off the series with an exclusive red carpet premiere. The celebrities will walk the red carpet before meeting their professional dancer counterparts for the series. Check out the celebrity contestants here. The Jonathan Ross Show – ITV1 (21:55-22:55)
This week Jonathan Woss speaks to the one and only pop sensation, Justin Bieber, who reveals how he copes with the pressures of being famous, The Olympics and Paralympics voice Clare Balding, who shares her experiences of this year’s events in London, and Irish actor Liam Neeson, who chats about his role in the much-awaited for Taken 2. Let’s hope Jonathan gets him to do the old “I will hunt you down…” A night of celebrity, news and gossip and banter… topped off with a few tunes from The Killers.
Comedy World Cup – Channel4 (20:20-21:20)
Get ready for some belly-aching stuff as comedian David Tennant shows us what he’s made of as he hosts this brand new panel show. The Scottish actor’s show will feature comedians such as Johnny Vegas, Alan Carr, Jason Manford and Jo Brand competing against each other to prove their knowledge of comedy. The gagmeisters are quizzed on sitcom footage, famous theme tunes and silent stand-up routine… A must-watch.
The X-Factor – ITV1 (20:10-21:10)
Go on then…! Guest judges Rita Ora, Leona Lewis, Mel B and Anastacia join the judges’ panel as the show comes to London, Manchester and Glasgow for the penultimate round of auditions before next week’s boot-camp. The lovely Dermot O’Leary hosts…
Rendition – RTE2 (21:00-23:10)
Don’t rush out to the video shop just yet… this 2007 detective thriller starring Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep could be just right for tonight. An Egyptian-born American is abducted by the CIA and flown to another country to be subjected to brutal interrogation as a suspected terrorist. His pregnant wife battles to bring the truth about his secret detention to light, while a CIA agent faces a crisis of conscience as he witnesses the torture. .. now all that’s left to get is the popcorn!
