From Geordie Shore to Celebrity Salon. It’s a hard call as to which show involves more temper tantrums and fake tan. The hit TV3 show is back on our screens tonight, and one of the celebs taking part is Greg Lake. He spoke to Her.ie about swapping the shore for the salon.

Back to reality… TV that is. Why did you say yes to Celebrity Salon?

When I was in Geordie Shore we spent a lot of time in Ireland, doing PA’s and all that, and the reaction you always get from people here is amazing, so when the opportunity came to do Celeb Salon and I knew it was based in Ireland I couldn’t really say no!

To be honest, I didn’t know what was in the programme, I was going in blind. I didn’t know if I’d be cutting hair, or waxing or… I didn’t have a clue. I’m not into any of that stuff, so I really didn’t have a clue. If you watch the show you’ll see how bad I was!

You were previously in Geordie Shore though, and all the men on that show look very primped and preened…

Everyone one on that programme used to do their waxing, their eyebrows and all that, and I was always that guy who didn’t do any of that. When I go out I have a shower, get my clothes and then I’m out the door. I’m old-fashioned that way.

What beauty hints and tips have you learned from Celebrity Salon?

Nothing! To be honest, I was messing about the whole time. They’d be explaining tasks, but it would go on for hours and I would just drift off. Then they’d say; ‘Right, go and do the task now’, and I’d be like; ‘Oh shit, what do I do?!’

Any complete disasters?

Just about every task! Probably the worst one was a make-up task. I wasn’t listening when they were telling us what to do, it was boring and I was hungover anyways… Then they gave us instructions. I’ve never read instructions in my life. If I got something out of IKEA I’d just build it, I wouldn’t read instructions. So I ended up giving the girl two black eyes (of makeup!) and put a ‘G’ on her forehead. I nearly won that task too…

Every year there are rumours… (Greg interrupts before we can finish the question!)

Oh no! I knew this was coming!

Any truth to stories of you and Nadia Forde growing close?

Um… ah… I’m not sure, like. I’m mates with her. (Nervous laughter – LOTS of it) There was a lot of flirting going on and whatnot, and when you’re on the show you’re in a bubble. We lived in each other’s pockets for two weeks so….

There was a lot of flirting, we did get on well, but that’s all I’m going to say!

Will you keep in touch with the cast?

I’ve kept in touch with almost everyone since we wrapped, I’ve been in Ireland loads since then, I’ve been quite busy here. When I’ve been over I’ve met up with Nadia, I’ve seen Glenda, and I’ve kept in touch with the producers.

Who was the most competitive?

Usually I’m really competitive, when it comes to sport and that, but not on this so it wasn’t me! I’d say probably Nikki, because she’s in her own little world and she wanted to win every task, and Glenda and Layla were quite competitive as well.

Will you be watching back when it airs?

I can’t wait! I’m actually gonna move over and get an apartment here for a month. It’s funny, but watching back I just cringe at myself!

Do you still watch Geordie shore?

No.

It did me well, but when I left I cut all ties completely. I don’t watch it. I still keep in touch with a couple of them, but it wasn’t for me. I don’t drink every night, maybe once a week. I couldn’t have done that Mexico trip and drank for five weeks; I’d have come back in a box!

Surely there was some partying with the celeb salon bunch, how was that, and did you get along with everyone?

We did go out a couple of times a week, but we were so tired after filming mostly we just went straight to bed!

It’s such a wide variety of people, you have every personality type. I thought there would be a lot of personality clashes, but there wasn’t, everyone got on so well.

I really loved it, filming was two of the best weeks I’ve ever had, it was like a holiday!

Celebrity Salon airs on TV3 for two weeks beginning tonight, September 3rd.
