He’s certainly a larger life than character so it’s no surprise that Charlie Sheen once has his heart set on playing Spider-Man on the big screen.
The television star was speaking to Jay Mohr for a podcast and admitted that he had tried to buy the rights to the comic book so that he could star in a film about the superhero.
But unfortunately the dream wasn’t to be for Charlie who was talked out of the move by production company Orion: ‘I had an office at Orion and I brought them Spider-Man.
‘I said ‘Look, in a couple of years, I’ll be too old to play Peter Parker’… And they said, ‘yeah we’re just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future.’
Shows how much they knew! The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers and Iron Man are just a few of the comic-based films that have made huge profits in recent years.

Both Tobey Maguire (pictured here) and Andrew Garfield have played Spider-Man.
So it’s no wonder Orion ended up going bankrupt and while Charlie hasn’t had the smoothest of runs recently, he has come right back with his new hit show Anger Management.
Although we do have to admit we can’t quite imagine him in that red and blue lycra suit…
