Unfortunately, we live in a world where homophobia exists.
While we can always do our best to support and respect human rights, sometimes life throws you into a situation where you are forced to act.
A video has surfaced this week of one man who did just that while riding home on the subway.
Voice actor Rob Maiale was sitting on the M train when he heard a preacher interrogating passengers on his carriage.
The preacher approached a lesbian couple who were travelling with their daughter to ask them, “what are you going to tell that child when he asks why you’re living in sin and going to go to hell?”
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Rob said he knew he had to take action:
“I decided that this guy wasn’t going to get to talk anymore. I myself am neither religious, nor gay, but if you want to live in this city, you need to learn how to be civil.”
So Rob reacted in the best way possible – by breaking into song.
Reciting I’ve got a Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Rob kept the carriage from experiencing anymore negative views and instead decided to impart some joy.
We’ll let you see the passengers’ reaction for yourself!
(In case you were wondering, the police boarded the train at the next stop and escorted the preacher off)
