Most of us like to keep our toilet habits firmly behind the bathroom door, although Sharon Osbourne is calling for people to break the taboo on, well, poo by talking about their bowel problems.
The Irish Independent reports that the former X-Factor judge is backing a new UK health campaign to encourage people to talk to their doctors if they notice any problems with their bowels.
“For goodness sake – we’ve all got a bum and we all poo, so get over it,” said Sharon, who is a bowel cancer survivor.
“The sooner bowel cancer is caught, the more likely the chance of survival. That is why everyone needs to just look out for the symptoms and head straight to the doctor if you are worried about anything. Early detection could save your life,” she added.

In Ireland, approximately 2,100 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every single year and it is the fourth most common type of cancer in the country. Therefore it is important for us to be more open if we start to experience any problems in an area that most people are too embarrassed to talk about.
Studies have shown that eating more fibres, oily fish and poultry can actually help to reduce your risk of developing the disease in later life.
Do you think Sharon is right to encourage people to speak openly about their bowel problems?
