Soul legend Bobby Womack has been forced to pull out of the triple headliner gig in Dublin’s Marlay Park due to an illness.

Womack was set to play alongside music legends Van Morrison and Tom Jones at the park on August 25th.

Womack released a statement to the press saying; “I send my deepest apologies to my loyal fans around the world, and would like to thank them for their unwavering love, support, and well wishes during my stay here at the hospital.”

The soul star was treated earlier in the year for colon cancer and underwent successful surgery in May.

The concert’s promoters, MCD, have confirmed that Don Baker and Sinead O’Connor will play in place of Womack at the show.

A €10 discount will be made available to customers who purchase tickets between now and the date of the event. A €10 voucher will also be available to those who bought tickets prior to Womack’s cancellation.
