The Voice of Ireland is set for a return to the television sets for a second series, this time with some “major shake-ups”.

Surprising many, this does not mean a change of presenter. Irish presenter Kathryn Thomas will be signed on as the reality TV talent show’s face again for the upcoming series.

The 33-year-old previously worked on television shows ‘No Frontiers’, ‘Winning Streak’ and ‘Operation Transformation’.

Yet the show’s format it to undergo radical changes in an effort by RTÉ to boost ratings, according to reports.

The talent contest will still be a 17-week process, making it the longest of all ‘The Voice’ shows worldwide.

RTÉ have spent more than €2 million buying the format for the search-for-a-star hit and they are determined to make the money back. Ratings for the show dwindled last year as the contest progressed to the latter stages.

The last series featured Eoghan McDermott as co-presenter and Bressie, Sharon Corr, Westlife’s Kian and singer Brian Kennedy as judges.

Husky-voiced County Carlow singer Pat Byrne won the series, with a little help from his mentor Bressie along the way.
