When it comes to reality television talent shows, Louis Walsh knows what he likes and knows what he doesn’t (which is unfortunate for The Voice and Superstar).
The Irish Daily Star reports that the X-Factor judge has blasted the rival telly talent shows and suggested that they were so awful, they couldn’t hold on to their audience. Nice.
“I hate them,” said Louis, referring to the two shows.
“I think they just show how good the X-Factor really is. The ratings tell their own story,” he added.
Is Louis right? Well…if recent reports are anything to go by, The Voice really is starting to struggle. Already the programme has seen one judge depart in the form of Jesse J, and another judge, the legendary Tom Jones, is reportedly mulling over whether or not he should stay (apparently his son has advised him against appearing on the next season).
However, BBC bosses have said that when the show returns next year, it will be bigger and better than ever and some major improvements will be made to it.
In comparison, this year’s X-Factor is reportedly going to be the best series that the show has ever seen. Why? Well, this year the judges are refusing to see any novelty acts and for the first time ever, contestants will be allowed to audition with instruments, which means that we’re likely to see an influx of bonafide musicians taking the stage, rather than karaoke or tribute acts.
“The level of talent feels a real step up from last year. Allowing musicians to play their instruments has made a massive difference,” said X-Factor judge Gary Barlow, speaking recently.
“We have a lot more singer-songwriters, a lot more real artists. I’m really excited,” he added.
Okay ladies, in the battle of the reality television talent shows, which do you prefer – The Voice or The X-Factor?
