Buskers are facing a clamp down on regulations as Dublin City Council release a new Street Performance Code.
According to the Irish Independent, performers will not be allowed to “hog or monopolise a performance site” and cannot set up within 50 metres of one another.
Buskers will not get away with singing one ore two songs repeatedly anymore either and must now have a repertoire of at least 20 songs.
The new code brings bad news for noisy drummers who face the biggest restrictions.
The code states: “As drum kits cannot be turned down in volume, and are found to be causing regular complaints, then acts will be asked to replace these kits with an unamplified ‘cajon’ percussion instrument.”
Tourists will no longer be treated to late night performances on Dublin’s streets as the council has banned sing songs after 11pm.

Dublin City Council Arts Officer Ray Yeats said: “This voluntary code honours the unique contribution that buskers make to city life while asking them to respect their fellow citizens and adjoining businesses.
“The code is for everyone to adopt and discuss and in three months’ time it will be reviewed by the council.”
Buskers have been warned that if they break the code there will be consequences.
“Any performer who does not adhere to the Street Performer Code will be subjected to legal enforcement proceedings,” states the code.
