The weather outside is miserable, so if you’re planning your Saturday night around a takeaway, a bottle of wine and the comfort of your own home, here’s the best of tonight’s TV…
If You Want to Laugh: Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, RTE2, 11pm.

The hilarious Michael McIntyre presents a stand-up show from Dublin’s very own Olympia Theatre. Featuring performances from Andrew Lawrence, Keith Farnan and Tommy Tiernan, this is a programme that will have you in stitches and if you’re sharing the sofa with your other half, it’ll keep him entertained too. Sorted.
If You Want to Unleash Your Inner-Kid: Ella Enchanted, RTE1, 6:35pm.

Ah, the big, big movie – it’s what Saturday evenings in Ireland are made of and tonight’s film doesn’t disappoint. Ella Enchanted is the story of a young girl who is put under a spell by her evil godmother. She sets off on a journey to remove the curse and she falls for a very handsome prince along the way.
Starring Anne Hathaway and the lovely Hugh Dancy, this is one you can watch with the younger members of the family.
If You Want Some Romance: Shakespeare in Love, RTE2, 12:55am.

Okay, so it’s on a bit late but this is a classic. Gwyneth Palthrow is a young woman who poses as a man in order to star in one of Shakespeare’s plays. Did we mention that Joseph Fiennes is also in this?
If You Want a New Favourite Programme: Smash, Sky Atlantic, 10pm.

Are you having Glee withdrawal symptoms? Check out Smash (it’s like the grown-up version of the all-singing, all-dancing teenage programme). This is the final episode of the current season, but even if you haven’t seen the show before you may as well tune in – you’ll be hooked. Promise.
