What has happened to the ‘Queen of Pop’? Madonna left the Paris stage after a short 45-minute performance…and didn’t return.
Parisian fans were left none too happy and began shouting after pop’s main lady as she cut her Thursday evening show at L’Olympia down to just 45 minutes.
The singer, who played to Dublin’s Aviva Stadium earlier in the week, added the Parisian show to her MDNA tour last-minute as part of what is believed to be one of the highest-grossing music tours of all time.
The French location was smaller than her usual choice of venue and was being live-streamed on the web to fans, one reason a spokesperson gave for the shortened concert.
Massive Madge fans had been camping outside the venue days in advance waiting for ticket confirmation and a space in the arena. Madge obsessives were undoubtedly expecting an action-packed evening as tickets ranged from €80 to a much steeper €280.
The arena became a hub of confusion as Madonna left the stage and didn’t return after a few minutes.
Once it became clear Madge was not returning to finish the evening in style, the crowd began to chant “salope!” , an unflattering French term for a female.
On exiting the venue, fans sang, “Remboursez! Remboursez!”, demanding their money back.
Madonna played in Dublin to mixed reviews and gave critics the chance to judge the pop lady’s age and ability to be as entertaining as she was before. Let’s just say those same critics will have a ball with this news…
