Neeson Initially Thought ‘Taken 2’ Idea Was ‘Crazy’

The Irish actor admits to thinking the hit film was just going to be a one-off.

Antrim man Liam Neeson has confessed to initially thinking the idea of a ‘Taken’ sequel was ‘crazy’.

The 60-year old told Empire magazine; “The first one for me was just a one-off. It was a huge hit, but I thought, that’s it.

“Then they came back and said, ‘we want to do a sequel.’ I said, ‘come on, how can you possibly do a sequel? What, she gets taken again? It’s crazy!’” he said.

We must admit Liam, it’s exactly what we thought ourselves but we will happily allow you to prove us wrong.

The first ‘Taken’ saw Neeson run around Europe trying to save his kidnapped daughter and her friend, who were being forced into the dark underworlds of sex trafficking and prostitution.

He took the role of a protective father and former CIA operative and we watched him track down the kidnappers and rescue his daughter. Who could ever forget, “I will find you. And I will kill you.”?

The upcoming sequel will see the scenario reversed, Neeson’s character and his wife are kidnapped and it is his daughter, Kim, who must track them down.

“I’m able to, in a very covert way, instruct her to find out where I am being held because a sack’s been put over my head and I’m in the middle of a f**king dungeon. It’s highly impossible yet equally possible”, the actor said.

We promise we’ll keep our minds open Liam.

Taken 2 is released on October 5th.
