Can you imagine Russell Brand uniting young couples in marital bliss? Yeah, us neither. So needless to say the entire team at Her.ie raised an eyebrow when we heard reports that the comedian wants to officiate at marriages in the US.
The Irish Sun reports that Russell has put in for a licence so he can officiate at weddings across the pond. Apparently Russell feels like it’s time to add another skill to his CV, although why he would think being able to marry people is a good skill to have is beyond us – especially given his track record when it comes to taking vows.
A source close to the former Mr Perry said that Russell came across a website offering the qualification when he was surfing the internet.
“Russell is genuinely interested in the idea of marrying a couple,” the source said.
“Now he’s getting matey with Tom Cruise, his pals have been joking that he could do the honours at the star’s fourth wedding,” the source added.
Somehow we can’t see celebs lining up to be married by Russell Brand.

Russell’s behaviour has been slightly erratic in the past week. First he referred to his ex-wife Katy Perry as an ‘arse-ache’ then he said his marriage to her was like living on a diet of rice.
He’s also made some nasty remarks about the antics that himself and Katy got up to in the bedroom. What a gentleman, right?
