Jay Gardener is to quit Geordie Shore after a final season in Cancun.
The twenty five year old handed in his notice and told bosses at MTV that he wants to spend more time with his girlfriend. It is reported that the muscly Newcastle lad does not trust himself around alcohol and other women.
“I really enjoyed being part of the Geordie Shore family but now it’s time for me to concentrate on my relationship. I have a serious girlfriend now and want to spend time with her,” he said
A friend of the star said: “Jay is sad to leave all his friends from the show behind but his future is with his new love.”
During his time in the Geordie Shore house, the star dated temperamental Vicki Pattinson who is now engaged to Ricki Guarnaccio.
Their relationship was littered with drama and the pair broke up at the end of season one.
However, Jay won’t be leaving the show quietly and will finish off his time in true Geordie Shore style.
“I love watching the show, Cancun was amazing and I can promise you my good-bye is action packed and emotional. It will be a bit weird to watch Geordie Shore once I’ve left but I am very grateful for the opportunities the show has given me and I love all my fans.”
