A transgender woman has revealed in a TV documentary series, how she underwent a sex change, which she performed on herself.

Jadis Argiope admits to taking a knife to her genetalia after not being able to afford gender reassignment surgery.

Speaking on a new UK show Self Surgery, Jadis admitted her lack of knowledge on arteries and the anatomy meant she was risking her life by performing surgery on herself:

“It was almost like a bomb, where you don’t know where to snip and if you do it too wrong or too early you end up bleeding to death.”

The Arizona woman claimed she was motivated to perform the act after knowing she needed to remove her testicles:

“I knew I needed to have my testicles out of my body. I knew I would never be able to afford an operation performed by a real surgeon, and so I would have to take matters in to my own hand.

“I knew as long as I had this testicle in my body it would continue to poison me. It was like a demon, a monster, someone hunting me down, so I had to get rid of it one way or another.”

After her own botched attempts, the young woman endured a 30-hour operation after securing financial help her for procedure.

By sharing her story, Jadis hopes health institutions may be more respectful of transgender women’s mental health:

‘My hope is that in the not too distant future society will be more sensitive to transgender women so they won’t have to do the drastic things I had to do.”
