If you hadn’t already been planning a night tucked up in front of The Apprentice this evening, then maybe it’s time to reconsider your plans, as Met Éireann has just upped the weather alert to orange this afternoon.

The national forecaster is predicting extremely heavy rainfall this evening and has also warned of “spot flooding” in a number of areas.

They predict that it will be “mainly dry early tonight, but heavy rain will develop in the west shortly after midnight and will spread across Munster, Connacht and south Leinster overnight with a risk of flooding.

“It will become windy also as southerly winds increasing strong and gusty with gales in some coastal areas. Thursday morning will be very wet with heavy rain in all areas and a risk of flooding.”

On a brighter note though, the heavy rain is expected to pass in time for the weekend… yay!
