If you are heading out tonight or at any time over the weekend, you might want to bring a raincoat or umbrella as Met Éireann is predicting quite a lot of rain.
The forecaster issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick and Mayo which is in effect until 6.00pm this evening.
Today will see a mixture of heavy downpours and bright spells. This rain will spread eastwards during the day but there will be scattered showers throughout the evening.
Tonight the rain will clear but the showers will remain in parts. Temperatures are expected to drop to between 6 and 9 degrees Celsius with mist and fog developing overnight.
Saturday morning will be cool but bright with sunny spells and some showers. Wet and windy conditions will develop in the afternoon but the heavy downpours are expected to clear in the evening.
Sunday will start off cool and breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers. There will be more rain and strong winds in the afternoon.
AA Roadwatch has warned motorists to “slow down and take extra care” because of the heavy rainfall and excess surface water.
