Cute and Creepy Halloween Fairy Cakes from Aldi

Make Halloween extra tasty this year with Aldi’s recipe for frightful and delightful Halloween Fairy Cakes! Complete with food dye for special effects…
Ingredients
- 150g fresh Blueberries or Sultanas
- 100g Caster Sugar
- 100g Butter
- 300g Self Raising Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 large Eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (store cupboard ingredient)
- 140ml Milk
- Green Food Colouring (store cupboard ingredient)
Method
- Line a baking tray with 12 paper cases.
- Mix together the butter and sugar until fluffy then add in the eggs, a little at a time until all the egg is absorbed.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract then fold in the flour and baking powder to make a thick batter.
- Stir in 4-6 droplets of green food colouring.
- Add in the blueberries/sultanas and spoon the mixture into the cases.
- Bake for 30 minutes at 160°C/325°F/Gas Mark 3.
- Leave the cakes to cool in the tray for 10 minutes.

Chocolate Biscuit Bats

Make creepy but tasty bats for a Halloween biscuit that’ll fly off the table!
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 1¼ cups flour
- ¼ cup icing sugar
- ¼ cup CADBURY Bournville Cocoa
- 125g butter, chopped
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Red writing icing
Make it
1. COMBINE flour, sugar, cocoa and butter in a food processor and process just until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the egg and process briefly to combine. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead to form soft dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
2. ROLL out pastry between 2 sheets of baking paper to ½ cm thick. Cut out 10 bat shapes and place on a lightly greased baking tray. Bake in a hot oven 200°C for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Stand for 10 minutes before placing onto a wire rack. Cool.
3. ICE each bat with red writing icing to make eyes. Store in an airtight container until required.

What you need
- 1 1/3 cups SR flour
- ½ cup CADBURY Bournville Cocoa
- 125g butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 cups icing sugar mixture, sifted
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 2-3 tablespoons water
- Green & Orange food colouring

- 12 Classic OREO cookies
Make it
1.SIFT together the flour and cocoa. Place in a large bowl; add the butter, sugar, vanilla, eggs and water and mix to combine. Spoon the mixture into 12 x 1/3 cup capacity paper lined muffins pans.
2.BAKE in a moderate oven 180°C for 20 minutes or until cooked when tested. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack. Cool.
3.PLACE the icing sugar mixture in a bowl and stir in the butter and enough water to make a spreadable icing. Colour with food colouring then spread over the cakes. Decorate with strips of snake to resemble spider legs then top with an Oreo. Cut eyes from the remaining snakes and position on top. Store in an airtight container until required.
