According to reports this morning, actress Elizabeth Pena died from complications related to alcohol.
TMZ is claiming that the death certificate states that she suffered from cirrhosis of the liver “due to alcohol” and that she had acute gastrointestinal bleeding which caused her heart to stop.
Pena (55) passed away on October 14th, leading to an outpouring of love from her co-stars and fans. She was best known for starring in La Bamba but also recently appeared in hit sitcom Modern Family.
Elizabeth Pena played Sofia Vergara’s mother in Modern Family.
