An Irish soldier decided to pop the question to his girlfriend when he returned home from Syria this week.
Private Kevin Phelan, from Waterford, was one of the 100 troops of the 44th Infantry who touched down at Baldonnell Airport at 12.30am this morning after spending six months on UN duty in the Golan Heights.
But while many friends and family members were overjoyed to see the return of their loved ones, we reckon Lena Murphy from Carlow had the biggest smile of them all.
As soon as her other half saw her, he got down on one knee and asked her a very important question, to which she said yes.
The soldiers will now have a month off with their families. According to RTÉ News, they have been replaced with 130 troops from the 46th Infantry who flew out yesterday morning.
