After trying to conceive for eight years, Ashley and Tyson Gardner received a mammoth shock in July.

The Utah couple had saved up enough to pay for their first round of IVF treatment and were successful on their first try.

When they attended their first ultrasound scan, they discovered that they were actually expecting quadruplets.

A friend, photographer Alicia Hallock filmed their reaction and the couple put together a moving video which details their story.

Ashley suffers from endometriosis, a condition which sees cells from the lining of the womb grow in other areas of the body and can cause great pain.

In the eight years prior to Ashley getting pregnant, she had a laparoscopy, took various types of medication and had four failed rounds of intrauterine insemination.

The couple were shocked and amazed at the news

After years of saving up, the coupe were finally able to afford to pay for IVF treatment. However this wasn’t an easy road either as Ashley told CNN.

“My endometriosis was so bad that we found during the IVF process that it had compromised my eggs. They all started dying off and left us with one perfect egg and one good egg,” she said.

“They put both back to give me the best odds of one sticking. The chances of even getting one to stick was 40 per cent. To have both stick and both split… well, that’s a one-in-70 million chance!” she said.

The couple have since had further scans and learned they are expecting four baby girls, due in December.

In the video below, Ashley explains why she and Tyson decided to go public with their story and they also have a Facebook page where you can find out more about their experiences.
