One woman became the envy of thousands of women across the world this week when she married Twilight star Robert Pattinson… oh no, wait…
She actually married a cardboard cut-out of the star.
25-year-old Lauren Adkins, a student from Las Vegas, apparently married the cardboard cut-out of Pattinson as Edward Cullen at a $2,000 Vegas wedding.
According to the student, she did it all in the name of art, as part of a performance art project for her Masters thesis.
“This work focuses on the female escapist fantasy in its most popular forms – primarily finding ‘true love’ – and the extent to which it seeps into our real lives…” she explained.
“Because of personal attachment to and experience with this fantasy or quest, which took a particularly strong hold of me when I discovered the intensely popular Twilight Saga, my thesis is going to touch on romantic expectation primarily through…Edward Cullen,” the student added.
Lauren raised $1,235 by crowd-funding online for her Twilight wedding which was broadcast live on the internet and, in keeping with tradition, changed her surname to Cullen on Instagram.
The ceremony took place at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. After the ceremony, Lauren enjoyed a gin and tonic in the bar while her cardboard husband had a beer.
