Forget your chicken fillets or a push-up bra – the new trend is saline injections into the breasts, according to plastic surgeons in New York.
According to the New York Times, women are now opting for saline injections, which temporarily expand the breasts for roughly 24 hours.
The procedure, which costs $3,500 per visit, was originally designed to show women what the effects of real breast augmentation surgery may look like.
Doctors have now said that the treatment is now being purchased as a one-day-only treatment by wealthier clients in New York.
Dubbed the “lunchtime lift”, experts told The New York Times that the procedure might stretch out the skin and can alter and damage the structure of the breast if it becomes a regular occurrence. For one-time only customers, experts have warned it can lead to bruising and tenderness of the breast.
The president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery called the injections a mere “party trick,” and are hopeful that the high price tag may prevent the treatment from becoming the new Botox for boobs.
