Beyoncé and Jay Z have just finished their most collaborative project to date as the couple’s ‘On The Run Tour’ earned them over $100 million. Things haven’t been all smooth sailing for the couple this year after the Solange and Jay Z lift debacle back in May sparked divorce rumours.
The Sandcastle Disco singer was infamously caught on camera attacking Jay-Z in an elevator after the Met Ball gala, with many believing that the altercation was sparked by the Roc Nation founder’s infidelity.
According to father Mathew Knowles, the incident was the classic “Jedi mind trick” at play in order to secure record tour ticket sales.
Knowles was a guest on Houston’s KRBE Roula & Ryan show, and gave the radio hosts his take on events.
Knowles, who acted as Beyonce’s manager before the release of her album ‘4′, suggested that the lift footage was something that the married couple “wanted to get out there”.
“All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone’s talking about it.
“Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200 per cent”, he added.
Following the release of the footage, the trio released a vague statement at the time to say that they had “put this behind us”. The 28-year-old maintained fairly silent on her actions but spoke briefly with Lucky Magazine about the aftermath of the fight.
“What’s important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that”.
Knowles finished the interview by suggestion a possible Destiny Child’s reunion is on the cards.
