There is a shocker of a series in store...

Hit BBC series Sherlock was one of the big winners at last night’s 66th Emmy Awards, picking up three awards, including one apiece for stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Speaking backstage after his Best Writing for a Miniseries win, executive producer Steven Moffat spoke about the drama’s upcoming fourth series, dropping some dramatic hints about the highly anticipated return.

Season four of Sherlock will begin production in January, and Moffat said he expected the return to be even more shocking than the finale of the third series, which ended with the return of a character presumed dead.

“We have a plan to top it, and actually I do think our plan is devastating,” he said.

“We practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them the plan. Honestly, Mark and myself are so excited with what we’ve got coming up, probably more excited than we’ve ever been about Sherlock… Honestly I think we can.”
