Gardaí are searching for three men involved in an alleged gang rape attack on a young woman which took place Sunday night.

The Brazilian woman was on her way to work in a Dublin City Centre takeaway when the men approached her. She told the Gardaí that they attempted to strike up a conversation as she walked through Cabra Park in Phibsborough.

The 20-year-old ignored their advances but was then grabbed from behind and taken down an alleyway where she was sexually assaulted, according to The Irish Mirror.

The young woman told officers that one man held her down while another raped her. She said a third man watched but he then fled the scene, followed by the other two men a short time later.

A Garda spokesman has said that officers in Mountjoy station are currently investigating the alleged sexual assault of a young woman at 7.45pm on Sunday.

“The attack took place in an open area. The woman was taken to the sexual assault unit in the Rotunda for tests. No arrests have been made”.

The Irish Mirror further reports that suspected attackers have been described as being aged in their 20s and all are believed to be Irish nationals.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to this incident to contact the incident room at Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 6668600, TheGarda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
