We’re firmly of the opinion that tea breaks are essential for a productive workday and definitely need a cup or two to start the day.
However, a tea break had an unwelcome outcome for seven Gardaí on the traffic unit when they stopped for a cup at Dublin Port while on duty.
It’s understood that a member of the public rang up with a complaint regarding the seven motorbikes that were parked up while the officers enjoyed a cuppa.
According to the Irish Mirror, a source said: “Everyone is calling it tea-gate because it just seems like such an over-the-top reaction. The officers weren’t on a break at the time, hence them being disciplined which is fair enough.
“But it seems very harsh that they’ve been transferred and the feeling is that it’s just too over-the-top. They have been transferred from Unit A to different units and broken up from each other.”
We might think twice about that next tea break now!
