Orange Is The New Black may be the hottest thing on Netflix at the moment, but one Michigan prison isn’t impressed with the prison drama.

Prisoners in Saginaw County, Michigan are having a wardrobe change – they’re being issued with black and white stripy prison overalls after the local sheriff deemed the orange jumpsuits ‘too fashionable’.

Local sheriff William Federspiel decided to change the prison uniform when he visited a local shopping mall and saw women wearing orange jumpsuits.

Speaking to Saginaw County News, the sheriff said:

“I see a lot of people wearing all orange, and they think it’s cool. And some people even put ‘Property of the Saginaw County Jail’ on the back of it.”

Speaking to local media, Federspiel admitted prisoners in Saginaw are less than happy:

“We’re not trying to embarrass or shame them. It tells me something, though, when the inmates think that it’s bad: It’s probably good.”
