Rumours were rife earlier today that actress Julie Walters was on the verge of landing a role on Coronation Street.
However show bosses have denied the reports explaining that there “are no plans at the moment” for her to join the cast.
A spokesperson explained: “Julie is a fantastic actress, so it would be great to have her on board in the future if the right role came up and if she had time in her busy work schedule”.
It was the Sunday Mirror who broke the story. An insider told the newspaper: “Julie’s appearance has been on the cards for quite a while. It’s been a matter of finding the right role for her”.
Walters is best known for her roles in the Harry Potter film franchise as well as Mamma Mia! and Calendar Girls.
