Every week, for our ‘Food High Five’ series, we talk about certain foods that have great health benefits.

This week, we’re looking at bananas.

Bananas: Black bags under your eyes even though you're getting a solid eight hours every night? High in potassium, bananas help regulate the fluid under the eyes.

Boosts energy
Whether you’re heading to the gym for a workout or need to get through the afternoon stretch, bananas are the way to go as they release energy slowly and keep your blood sugar levels high.

Helps weight loss
Due to the fact that this fruit is energy-boosting and low in calories, it means it is a great snack between meals.

Provides period relief
They are particularly useful at that time of the month as they regulate blood sugar and ease stress.

Helps mood
Bananas contain a chemical called tryptophan which is transformed into serotonin, keeping you feeling relaxed and boosting your mood.

Keeps system in check
This fruit is said to be good for circulation and can lower the risk of heart disease and stoke. They also keep your digestive system in check because of the fibre they contain.
