This image of a mother cradling her dead newborn baby is probably one of the most heartbreaking that we have ever seen.
The female macaque monkey carried her tiny newborn around for days at the Tangkoko Nature Reserve in Indonesia, according to the Daily Mail.
The images were captured by photographer Andrew Walmsley. The Reserve reported that the mother spent days looking after her newborn, grooming and gazing at it.
In one of the images, a male attempts to touch the newborn, but she pushes him away.
