First there was a bra that moisturises and tones your chest, and now there’s an invisible ‘bra’ designed to combat sagging breasts.
Three British women have already undergone surgery to fit an invisible ‘bra’ underneath their skin, in an effort to combat sagging breasts.
The operation involves inserting fine hardened silicone cups under the breast tissue, with fine silk straps screwed into the women’s ribcage to life the breast.
The procedure, which will enable a woman to go bra-less, lasts 45 minutes and costs £6,000.
According to The Sun, it is likely the operation will be offered free of charge as early as next year to NHS patients who have had medical breast reductions and breast cancer patients.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Professor Kefah Mokbel of the London Breast Institute cautioned the safety of the invisible bra, saying it is vital that full trials are carried out to determine long-term side effects:
“One of the things to be looked into is if fixing silk straps to the ribs will have side effects. In a standard breast operation the silicone implants are inserted behind the breast to minimise the risk.
“These cups go under the skin, so the question is do we know the long-term effect to women, will they develop scaring and will the internal bra affect the shape of the breast in the long term?”
