There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are five of the best films that are on TV this week.
1. Man on Fire, Monday, Film4, 23.20pm
Arguably one of Tony Scott’s best films, Man on Fire, starring Denzel Washington, revolves around a personal security guard named Creasy is given charge of a young girl who ends up being kidnapped. Creasy literally stops at nothing to get her back. If you haven’t seen this film already, you simply must.
2. Star Trek: Insurrection, Tuesday, E4, 8pm.
Maybe one for the Star Trek fans more so than the Abrams fans, Insurrection follows Picard and crew as they open rebellion after they learn of a Federation conspiracy. Patrick Stewart, what more could you want?

3. Erin Brockovich, Wednesday, 3E, 10pm.
The film that finally gave Julia Roberts her Oscar, Erin Brockovich, a single mother and legal assistant, begins campaigning to bring down a powerful Californian company, and she does it almost completely by herself. Julia is second to none here.

4. William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Thursday, Sky Living, 9pm.
Oh Leo, swoon. Baz Luhrman’s epic adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is certainly one for the 90’s kids and fans of Leo. And that soundtrack? Killer.

5. Michael Clayton, Friday, BBC2, 23.05.
Yes, this is George Clooney’s operation but it was all about that performance from Tilda Swinton. Clooney plays Clayton, a lawyer who has a breakdown during a massive suit with a company he knows his guilty. Bring in the “fixer”.
6. Kung Fu Panda, Saturday, RTE1, 18.35.
If you haven’t caught either of the Kung Fu Pandas, you are really missing something. Arguably some of the best animations outside of the Pixar empire, the films follow a panda who wants to become a kung fu master. With some of the best voices in the business, this is both charming and hilarious.
7. Hairspray, Sunday, Channel 4, 15.25.
Ah, Zac Efron, what have we done to deserve you? There really is nothing like a musical on a Sunday and you should check out Hairspray, the story of a girl who wants to be on the most popular television program in town. There’s just one problem, she’s not one of the popular girls.
