There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are five of the best films that are on TV this week.
1. Beasts of the Southern Wild, Monday, TG4, 21.30pm.
An outside contender for the Oscars a few years ago, Beasts of the Southern Wild tells the story of six-year-old Hushpuppy who learns the ways of courage and love while faced with both her hot-tempered father’s fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community. This is actually a pretty lovely film and well worth watching!

2. Grease, Tuesday, Tuesday, E4, 8pm.
An old classic and one of our favourite musicals, Grease is just one of those films that has stood the test of time. The film revolves around Sandy and Danny, a couple who fell in love over the summer but when they meet in school, things are a little different.

3. Midnight in Paris, Wednesday, RTE1, 21.35pm
One of Woody Allen’s often overlooked films, Midnight in Paris is just a dream for people who love that city and its art. While on a trip to Paris, writer Gil finds himself among the greatest artists and writers of the 20’s after midnight every night. It’s lovely, all just lovely.

4. Rambo: First Blood, Thursday, TV3, 9pm.
Who doesn’t love a bit of Rambo and action on a Thursday night? First Blood tells the story of the Vietnam Veteran who uses his combat skills against a lawman who arrests him. It’s a lot of ridiculous brilliance, but entirely worth it.
5. Scent of a Woman, Friday, UTV, 23.05pm.
This is one of the Her.ie team’s favourite films of all time and it’s easy to see why. Scent of a Woman tells the story of a blind man who is looked after by a student who needs some extra money, but not everything goes exactly to plan.
