The late Brittany Murphy’s final movie, Something Wicked, is to make its debut more than four years after it was completed.

Starring Shantel Van Santen and John Robinson in the lead roles and Murphy in the supporting cast, the film is described as a psychological thriller about a couple who are forced to confront the many dark secrets from their past.

According to the New York Daily News, the low-budget thriller would screen in Eugene, Oregon, near to where it was shot in 2009. It had a budget of $3m.

“It is an additional responsibility; you do want her performance to be the best it can be, because unfortunately it’s her last performance,” writer and producer, Joe Colleran said.

“The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it’s very emotional. It has been an extremely protracted process, but here we are.”

The writer described the late star’s performance as “very chilling”.

“She just hit it out of the park. You can see why she was a celebrity and a star.”

Murphy passed away at the age of 32 after she succumbed to pneumonia and severe anaemia in December, 2009.
