Saturday 22nd February marked the 10th anniversary of the date the last episode of Sex and the City aired on HBO.
As if that wasn’t reason enough to dedicate an article to the fabulous foursome, Kristin Davis of Charlotte York fame, turns 49 today.
So to commemorate the two occasions, we decided to put together our favourite moments from one of THE best sitcoms ever made, and no, that’s not an exaggeration.
NEVER Break Up With Someone on a Post-It.
Ask someone what the defining moment of SATC is and you can bet that the post-it scene features in more than a few answers. Berger breaks up with Carrie on a post-it that says “I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me’.
Moon River
Carrie and Big dance to Moon River and this romantic scene is a favourite of many a SATC fan. Big talks about how his parents used to dance to this song before they went out… SWOON.
“Let Me Be There For You”
Smith shaves his head in support of Samantha during her battle with breast cancer. What a guy.
“Where Is He?!”
Charlotte gets very frustrated at the fact that Mr. Right hasn’t showed up yet.

Miranda doesn’t see the point in holding back.

A real sisterhood moment. Samantha is giving a speech at a breast cancer benefit when her itchy wig becomes too much to handle and she takes it off. It’s not long before the other women in the room follow suit in a show of solidarity.

Don’t talk about moving in, not in front of the penis! From the fact that Trey refers to it as his John Thomas to Charlotte’s complete freak out, this scene gets us every time.

Die-hard Sex and the City fans will remember this one, Miranda sees a guy dressed as a sandwich and finds herself attracted to him yet can’t really explain why.
Aidan And Carrie Break Up…(the first time)

Carrie Breaks Up With Aidan… (the second time, only now there’s a ring involved)

Miranda’s mother passes away and the girls are out in force to support their friend. It’s not often Samantha gets emotional but this proves a little too much for her.

The city of love. From shopping in Dior to exploring the sights, Carrie has a ball. There are a few tough moments including meeting her boyfriend’s ex but this girl gets through it.

A definite winner with Team Her, we can’t help but warm to Big when he asks Carrie’s friends if he should travel to Paris in a bid to win her back. It’s Miranda (never a fan of Big) that actually tells him to “go get our girl”.
That Bag
Samantha can’t understand why it’s taking so long for her to get THAT Hermès bag and she stops at nothing to ensure she nabs it.
Chinese Take Out
Miranda makes her usual order at her regular Chinese takeaway only to have her order quoted back to her. The embarrassment.
True Love
Big and Carrie in peals of laughter on the floor of a posh hotel is without a doubt, one of the best moments of Sex and the City. Humour is an important ingredient in any relationship and this scene proves that laughter is often the best medicine.
