#nomakeupselfie is the Latest Social Media Craze Raising Breast Cancer Awareness

The latest Internet craze for a good cause.

Over the past while we’ve seen many social media trends take over our Facebook and Twitter pages but the latest craze hitting the Internet is for a good cause.

#nomakeupselfie made its way online last night and snowballed with women across the world posting selfies of themselves all in the name of breast cancer awareness.

Using the hashtags #breatcancerawareness and #nomakeupselfie, people are encouraging women to donate and nominate others to take selfies and share them online.

 

“The #nomakeupselfie Twitter trend isn’t something Cancer Research UK started – but it’s great to see so many people getting involved to help raise awareness of cancer amongst their friends and family” said Carolan Davidge, director of communications at Cancer Research UK.

Well-known faces have also been joining in on the campaign with presenters like Holly Willoughby and Holly Hogan from Geordie Shore adding their voices to the campaign:

So far the No Make Up Selfie For Cancer Awareness page has over 142,000 likes on Facebook and counting with hundreds of photos still being uploaded. You can donate to the Irish Cancer Society here.
