You’ll Never Believe What Has Been Named The Greatest Album Of All Time By BBC2

It took the top spot over the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones...

We’re not sure if everyone in our office would agree with this one but according to BBC2 Radio listeners, the greatest album of all time is Coldplay’s A Rush Of Blood to the Head. The poll was conducted by BBC Radio 2 to find the listeners’ favourite album.

The album, which was released in 2002, contains the band’s classic Clocks and the wonderful Scientist track and has sold more than 2.8 million copies in the UK alone, according to the BBC.

The band took the top spot over Keane’s Hopes and Fears, which took the second position, and Duran Duran’s Rio which was in third.

However, surprisingly, they also managed to stay ahead of the classic Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Disappointingly, Dido finished in fifth with No Angel over both the Stones and the Beatles.

Radio 2 Head of Music, Jeff Smith, commented: “Musicians such as Coldplay and Dido have struck a chord with listeners and are in good company in the top 10 alongside legendary bands like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, whose appeal remains undiminished after all these years.”

Dido’s No Angel a better album than the Stones Sticky Fingers? We find that one hard to believe…

The Top 10 Albums for BBC 2 Listeners Were:

1. Coldplay – A Rush of Blood To The Head (2002)

2. Keane – Hopes and Fears (2004)

4. Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)
